As
a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon, I have practiced in the
Mid Coast area of Maine since 1979. As time went on, I realized
that I have an interest in the medical legal system and the worker's
compensation system. Therefore, in 2001, I decided to devote
my time and energy to the performance of IME exams, Second Opinions
and Medical Record Reviews. |

As
an Orthopedic Surgeon, I have had the opportunity to evaluate
and treat tens of thousands of patients. Many of those patients
have been worker's comp cases, many have been liability or accident
cases. Many of those patients have required surgery, most
have not. I have had the opportunity to return most injured
workers to their previous occupations. |

In
the course of treating these patients, I have developed an expertise
in the assessment of the injured worker or accident victim.
Having recovered from a couple of painful orthopedic conditions
myself, I am particularly good at recognizing genuine pain behavior
versus exaggerated pain behavior. I have developed expertise
in determining causation and in the area of appropriateness of
care. I have also developed expertise in the area of work
capacity, work restrictions and issued regarding return of the
injured worker to work and in assessing various treatment options.
I have developed an expertise in the use of the AMA Guides to
the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment, 4th and 5th editions and
am well versed in the concept of chronic pain and disability. |

Having
developed these skills and areas of expertise, I plan to devote
the bulk of my time to the performance of Independent Medical
Examinations. As an Independent Medical Examiner, I will
discuss each case with my client, to determine the client's needs
for that particular case and will provide a thorough, impartial
Independent Medical Examination on a timely basis. I will
provide my client with a fee schedule and payment policy and will
be prepared to testify on the behalf of my client. Thank
